2005 Welsh National Result

Welsh Grand National BettingThe 2005 Welsh National once again saw a competitive field go to post for the three mile five furlong slog around the Chepstow bog and Paul Nicholls was the winner with the first three home coming from his stable. Nicholls is the trainer who looks like dominating the the National Hunt racing game and this result highlights that he is the one trainer who is likely to be on top of the game for many years to come.

The winner L'Aventure was the second string of the Nicholls trio as hi first choice and the choice of Ruby Walsh was Cornish Rebel who went off joint favourite. L'Aventure had not got her head in front for over a year at this track in a hurdle race. L'Aventure always looked like getting the better of One Knight who fell at the last which left her clear of her other stable mate Heros Collonges.

L'Aventure won a distance from Heros Collonges was beaten a fair way out and Cornish Rebel was never going to justify his favourites status and flat course seem to be his forte. Top class staying hurdler Crystal D'Ainay ran a good race for one with so little fencing experience.
