2006 Welsh National Result
Halcon Genelardais trained by the ever up and coming Alan King was an impressive winner of the 2006 Coral Welsh National which was run on very soft ground which clearly this 6 year old loves. This victory was ever more impressive as it was only his fifth run over the larger fences and now he has won four of them.
Halcon Genelardais went into this race on 11 stone 3 pounds and for a 6 year old this was a top class performance and highlights that he is a horse to follow in future seasons. It was a shame that My Will did not take his place in the line up at this could have added to the stature of this race.
In all eighteen went to post and 12 finished with the winner Halcon Genelardais waiting at the back end of the pack until the final circuit were he was put into contention by his jockey Wayne Hutchinson. Wayne put him into the lead three from home and after his spectacular jump at the last the race was over at that point.
Halcon Genelardais was followed home by Mon Mome who is also on the up as a chaser and Juveigneur who was in contention for a long time but was found out for his lack of stamina.
